Yeah Skyline was not as good as I thought it would be, the ending didn't make much sense if its the only one they plan to make.

Yes, I hope to see it with one of my friends but I don't know if I will. Might have to wait and go by myself.

Isn't this a remake of an 80's movie?

No, I dont think so. It's based off the actual battle of LA as far as I know.

Told you it was good, one of my combat buddies started to get alittle tense and jumpy during those first ground fight scenes that were done documentary style, I had to distract him by calling his name in order to calm him down. Funny how some people mentally become a mess over little events in combat compared to others who have had catastrophic events? Supposedly its based on the amount of fear they had during the event or events in question but he was knocked out at the very begining so he doesn't remember anything. I wonder what makes some able to cope and others seemingly unable to?

I wonder what makes some able to cope and others seemingly unable to? People lie along a spectrum when it comes to traumatic experiences. One one end you have people who go catatonic while on the other you have "adrenaline" junkies who deliberate risk life and limb to get that high. Most people fall inbetween. I remember my dad being jumpy for about a year after getting back from Somaila (2 tours), but it doesn't seem to have had any lasting effects almost 20 years later. Then again you have those guys who just can't seem to get out of the jungle (or wherever). As for the movie, I have serious doubts about the plausibility of the movie. Can't lose LA? Why not? David Weber's Out of the Dark posits and alien race beginning it's conquest of earth by first hacking all planetary databases to choose targets, then wiping out most of the cities around the globe. He does a really god job showing what happens to his characters when they find out most of their families are just gone. Of course we're talking military sci-fi and that means that you don't poke humans, because we have a nasty bite.

I thought it odd for an attack supposedly following along classic battle strategies as they mention but some how forgot to take out our communication and monitoring abilities, ie... our satellites. They had the forthought to know where we were in the universe and plot their landing in the water but didn't know where any key areas were other then coastal population centers. But, I still enjoyed the movie, I feel as though it was sponsored by the military as a recruiting tool which we have actually done several times before for the armed forces cause the Battle:Los Angeles movie posters were all over the inside of military gyms and stores which we don't do unless it's sponsored by the military like we did with BlackHawk Down, Green Zone and Generation Kill there are manu others but I haven't noticed any posters for them on base.

Sounds kind of like the reaction I had after Independence Day which is exactly what the filmmakers wanted. It probably is a good action yarn, what concerns me is the relative intelligence of the public these days. They probably see something like that as real, when it was really written by Hollywood screenwriters. I'd be much more comfortable to have a military sci-fi give it a go. At least most of them have been active duty and write from experience.

I don't quite understand how they were able to hide their ships underground with the thing being so huge.
