One of the most accurate and cheapest rifles you will probably come across for hunting and defense is the Mosin Nagant rifle in the 7.62x54mm caliber. It's a very powerful round that will drop even the biggest of game and that most body armor, including military body armor can't easily stop. You should be able to pick up this rifle at most gun stores or on-line with the original wood stock for less $150 and pay less then $100 for 400 rounds of ammo. It even usually comes with a sling, bayonet, oil bottle and stripper clips for quick reloads. Now the rifle is bolt action and holds 5 rounds in an internal magazine, besides paying half as much on a single shot rifle or shotgun this is probably the best deal around these days. Another alternative of course for those who have even less money is to buy a used single shot weapon for less then $100 dollars usually at your local gun stores in their bargain bins. For the accuracy, power, ammo cost and rifle cost, currently there is no match so have fun and remember to zip tie a pouch on the butt stock of your weapon to hold extra ammo, your oil bottle and a knife.
