I recently heard that on the 15th of this month, there is supposed to be a commet passing by earth, it is supposed to be visible even in broad daylight, i was also told that this commet is supposed to shift the polarity of the northern pole and earth quakes are supposed to occur, so if this is true watch out for earth quakes in 2 days, if they happen then start getting worried.

Be careful when listening to new age wingnuts. They're wrong far more often than they are right....wait, they're never right. Nostradamus was supposed to have predicted WW III in 1999, both France and Germany thought the Hisster passage in Nostradamus meant victory for them. Point is we like to think we can foretell the future, it makes us feel better about living in a seemingly chaotic universe, but the truth is we can't foretell anything. Instead of being scared, better to appreciate the things you have; friends, family etc. That way if you do get caught in something bad, you'll have no regrets. You can't live that way if you're fearful all the time.

Perhaps i should have worded my paragraph differently to emphasize my skepticism, but yes Y2K is also a good exampe of predicted things that did not occur.

Do you actually believe in doomsday predictions? We've all heard a lot about doomsday predictions and we really don't have idea what will happen next. Nobody really knows. Predicting the end of the world has become somewhat of a hobby for some folks. Then again, people have been doing it for the last 2,000+ years. Should we be worried? Will the world truly come to an end? Maybe. In a few years. At some point. However, with the world set to end this week, it might seem like finances do not matter any longer at all. But hold on. Before you heat your house by burning $100 bills, adopt a wait-and-see mindset. The fact is that people have been predicting the end of the world since the beginning of the world. And none of them have been correct so far.

Won't matter if the outcome is the same, i.e., you prep. In which case, prep for higher food and oil prices, unemployment, effects of extreme weather (floods, droughts, storms, forest fires), and other results, such as epidemics, high crime rates, wars, etc.
The three factors affecting these are peak oil, a global financial crisis with no recovery, and global warming coupled with environmental damage.
